Glamping near the slopes: BC’s best ski town cabins

As the snow flies, my dreams of curling up by a fire apres ski in a super cute, rustic cabin increase exponentially. Enter Glamping Hub. Glamping in the mountains is one of the best ways to hygge your way through winter.

This snow season my family plans to escape away to the mainland mountains in February to carve up the slopes and sip mulled wine and play crib in a cute chalet either in the Kootenays or the Okanagan region of British Columbia. We’ll be driving the huge drive to the Vernon area and then hopefully heading to the Kootenays. Finding ski town accommodation is always a bit tricky and that’s why I love Glamping Hub because it has a lot of cozy options that are near ski towns or hills but are often quirky, affordable and slightly off the well-groomed path.

You might remember I’m a big fan of cabin getaways with friends. My dream winter glamping destinations includes: a fire place, a smallish space made for communal meals, deep sleeps and an open(ish) concept design that’s made for socializing. Oh, an no more than an hour’s drive to the local ski hill, x-country trails or ripping toboggan hill.

Here are some of the Glamping Hub spots I’m dreaming of as we plan for our February roadtrip fiesta of cute cabins, strong bevvies, family snow adventures.

A-frames or treehouses or both? Love this Terrace, BC Glamping Hub stop

Our roadtrip to our family ski-cation starts and ends with a seven hour ferry ride east from Haida Gwaii to Prince Rupert. Then we drive east on Highway 16 through Terrace, B.C. Usually there is an overnight on the way east or west in Terrace or Prince Rupert, so these little raised cabins on an organic farm would be a perfect place to stay, don’t you think? And maybe we could stop at Terrace’s co-operatively run Shames Mountain while we’re there.

A-frame cuteness near Prince George, B.C.

Prince George and Powder King Mountain Resort would also be a sensible stop on our journey to find the best powder B.C. has to offer. I just love the look of this little A-frame. And yes to the in-house chef!

To the mountains we go glamping!

Meet me on the deck for hot cocoa happy hour!

Nelson, B.C. is known as one of the province’s best champagne powder destinations. This cabins is pretty close to Whitewater, the local ski hill loved worldwide. This roomy Old Dutch cabin boasts a lovely deck and of course my personal glamping must-have: a wood stove.

Talk about a Rocky Mountain High.

Tucked way down in the eastern corner of British Columbia is Golden, home to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and drop dead views. Like those found at this modern cabin near Golden. Best amenity: a hot tub to soak those tired slope-hugging leg muscles.

An Okanagan beauty: a historic glamping cabin in Coldstream, B.C.

While Silverstar Mountain near Vernon is our end destination, a little stay in this historic, wood panel filled beauty in Coldstream would be awesome. From the riverstone fireplace to tranquil setting, I think this would be a fabulous spot to chill even more after a slopeside trip.

Dreaming of visiting mountains further afield? Glamping Hub has options for all kinds of mountain getaways.

I would love to hear about favourite rustic glamping spots you return to year after year, run after run for your ski or snowboard holidays?

Glamping is the best!! Camping is so yesteryear. Why sleep on the cold, rocky ground when you can stay in a nice warm cabin by the fire- with your own in-house chef, no less! That’s the best of all possible worlds.

Very nice! I love the mountains of BC. So beautiful for anyone who loves nature. Even if you don’t ski!
