Oceans of Yarn: 29 Palms Boho Wallhanging

When was the last time you bought something from a person who actually made the thing you bought? As in with their own hands?

This is a question I think about often before making a gift purchase. Whether I’m looking for my son, my partner, my family or friends, I often try to include at least one handmade item in the package. Small Business Saturday is the one day a year we can all ponder this question and put our money where our thoughts are: from our wallet into that of a small or indie business person.

To celebrate Small Biz Saturday I’ve curated a rad little list of Etsy finds that are the perfect gifts for travellers, lovers of art and wearers of bling. Best of all? They’re all based in BC, even a couple from Haida Gwaii (including Oceans of Yarn, my shop, see here), so happy browsing….

Why Small Business Saturday?

A purchase will small business is a vote to spend your dollars on a company owned by owners and made by makers. I hope you enjoy my little list of Etsy faves on this Small Biz Saturday. Whether you love the beachy, surf wear of Pina Styles or the beautiful BC-inspired jewels of Justine Brooks or the whip smart stationary of Alicia Carvahlo, this is a fun list for grabbing the perfect Christmas/Kwanzaa/Hanukkah gift for your friends or family.
