Novelist Eudora Welty once said, “a good snapshot keeps a moment from running away.” These days these moments are captured on a multitude of platforms: Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, Facebook and Instagram. Of all of these, Instagram, to me is one of the easiest-to-use, most positive in terms of engagement.

We have a wealth of fantastic photographers from Canada who traipse through both the true north strong and free and beyond, immortalizing animals, landscapes and people. Since it’s Friday and the window to your weekend of (hopefully) relaxing, chilling and perhaps some Instagram scrolling, here are my top 10 Canadian travel photographers, in no particular order.  Leigh McAdam of HikeBikeTravel may well be one of the busiest Canadian bloggers out there. She captures landscapes and vignettes from her travels throughout our super natural backyard – the country’s National and Provincial parks.

Maurice Li is a Vancouver-based photographer who travels above and around Canada by air, rail and foot to capture both wild and urban views. He’s followed royals around the country and is the leader of a photography collective called Stay and Wander.

Paul Nicklen is a National Geographic photographer and one of the founders of the iLCP (International League of Conservation Photographers) a posse that uses their images and voice to speak out on environmental issues. A champ in my books.

  After spending weeks of camping on the sea ice, I finally took off in my ultralight airplane with my friend and ace pilot, Brian Knutsen.
